Cricket Elizabeth came into our lives on 21 December 2007 from a country pound in NSW. Through a series of circumstances we couldn't deny, Cricket came to us like it was some divine plan. And although she had had her front leg and her tail severed she remained full of bravado; nothing would ever get the better of her. We adopted her officially on the 1st of May 2008.
From that day on our lives changed for the better. She played hard and fast, was into everything from the wardrobe to the washing. She visited everyone in the bathroom, the shower cubicle or the shed. No place was ever missed, no place was out of bounds. Slowly our other dogs began to see her for what she was. A life force who was to be embraced, and became Romy's sparring partner, teaching her how to perfect 'the rebel yell', and to make a racket as loud as possible while playing. She was gentle with Miss Dolly, and she would only ever flip over on her back and expose her tummy only for her friend the Dollstar. Everyone else had to fight their own battles with Bix on her terms. And she made sure she did it with enormous love and spirit.
Bix was an avid gardener, a serious snooper and a rambuctious rumbler. Nothing was sacred to our Cricket. She was always the first to be involved in anything because she was an amazing life force who lead by example. Despite her physical setbacks caused in her previous life, she remained a positive energy, living for the moment and making the most of it.
Bickets was a clown, a dag, and Dad's girl. She adored every second being in our family, was happiest in the garden where she could rule, it was her domain.
Cricket was passionate about every single thing that life presented to her. She was courageous, incorrigible and unforgettable. Her bravery and refusal to be bowed by anyone or anything is inspiring. Through her life, she taught me to continue to fight for every animal I can, and help every one to the very best of my ability, as well as stay true to my own strengths and beliefs. Cricket Elizabeth is, and will always be, my inspiration for Rescued With Love.
