How do you save lives in Shelters? Easy. Stop the killing...

On March 5, Stateline has had a program on the RSPCA ACT and their bid to 'save lives' not merely store and then kill.  It is truly remarkable.

For all who are wondering why there is such a high criticism of The Lost Dogs Home in Melbourne the largest pound in Australia, and their massive convenience killing, this link to the youtube video of the Stateline program will show you exactly how it can be done, and how it is not even considered at the LDH with 6 million cash sitting in the bank account.

Having met Michael Linke, CEO and spoken with him numerous times, and heard him speak, one realizes that there is no excuse.  All shelters should be running this way.

It is an uplifting program, informative and shows the basic changes that were made and how they are surviving constantly on donations for doing what they were meant to do in the first place.  Care and save animals lives.

Graeme Smith & Sue Controy you need
to watch this. Micheal Linke is doing what
you should be doing with all those millions.
Watch & learn or will you as everyone
suspects just continue to remain
HIGH KILL even with all those donated
millions earning interest instead of saving
lives which is what people think it goes
towards - if only they knew how many dogs
die that could easily be rehomed.
Come on, off you go - let people take over
who will make a difference. What did you
change after your trip to QLD to learn how to
do it properly? Oh and who does own the
LDH?

Michael Linke had the vision when he arrived and was then able to plan to put this plan into action, and look where it has taken them.
If only someone like Michael Linke were CEO of the Lost Dogs Home, imagine what could be achieved with their resourses.

One thing that really struck me was how focused the staff were. They were glad to be there doing something positive now that the initiation of saving lives rather than killing had taken place. They were smiling at their efforts and rightly so.

I think of the Lost Dogs Home staff who have contacted us over the last few months, scared to speak out, talking of killing sprees, and the dreadful wearing down of their spirit as nothing changes year in year out.

I cannot believe that Management and the Board at the LDH still think that this will 'go away'. The blame lies firmly with them for not changing their policies.

Well done Michael Linke, it is so uplifting to see someone prepared to step in and implement changes that are about putting the animals first.
