The Dog Diary

Pookie

Posted by knorman on March 3, 2010 at 4:06 AM

Pookie had string tied around her leg for so long it embedded in her skin.  She has pus coming from under her teeth.  She is, in short a mess.  A lady had her name on her and then dropped off and we knew we couldn't let her die.  Pookie, with alot of wangling is coming to us from a country pound and will arrive on the weekend.  Luckily the staff at the pound were so concerned with her leg, they rushed her to the vet.  The skin was necrotic and there was a time when they thought she would lose her leg from the string she had been tethered with.  Being a stray there is no chance of any prosecution.  But that of course is never our main concern.  Our focus is, and always will be on the dog.  Pookie will get all her vet work done, including a dental, and anything else she will need.

We will update you when she comes.  Thankyou to the council staff and vet staff who have helped Pookie this far. We are eternally grateful.

Hi Lois, Kae has been flat out today
so thought I'd let you know that Pookie
has very much arrived and what a
totally divine tiny girl she is. At around
a kilo I'd say she is even more petite
than Birdie! She loves to give kisses,
loves snuggles and has already been
playing with Angel, flicking her tail around
like all chihuahua's do and prancing like
the little dear she is

Oh that is good news Linda, thanks for letting me know, she is safe now and I know she will get only the best times and love staying at your house, a kilo, how tiny is that, how old is she, can you imagine somebody tethering her leg at that size, words fail me as they would you, well goodnight little Pooks, sleep tight, warm, dry and safe at Aunty Linda's house, big hugs.. xxxxx

She is just a bub at two years, looks
and acts like a puppy. Her leg is the
thickness of an adult human finger but
is good now. After last night I know that
she "insists" on sleeping in my bed under
the doona! She is already trying to take
control of the others but really she's all
bluff. She is such a delight and as all Chi's
do she has a BIG personality.
