The Dog Diary

Kindness - Matilda gets a visit.

Posted by anonymous on November 9, 2011 at 5:35 AM

I have never seen so much compassion. The outpouring of grief and sadness for a little dog until two days ago, had no name and no future. "Matilda" has united many in her plight - and on unsteady legs she continues to show us great courage.  I am astounded that her story touched so many.  And it gives us hope - to continue against all odds.

From those who knew nothing of RWL, or who we are (and what we do), people from everywhere have donated their hard earned wages to contribute to a dog that needs palliative care.  Can our message be any louder???? No.  Love AND care for those who are here walking with us on this earth.

People who were shocked, saddened, outraged and most of all understanding that there is no easy solution, no right thing or wrong in her case, just faith, that we, who are able to make a difference can, and will.  Thankyou hardly seems enough - but that it all I can offer. Do you know how much you made us take just ONE more step?

And the girls in RWL?  Wow.  Focus on the now.  The right thing.  What they CAN do.  What they can provide.  As Bronwnyn, and her friend Gladys showed us today - when they visited Matilda and gave her the best they could.

They gave her a collar to show she belonged to all of us.  A giant family who loved her.  And a tag with her own name. "Matilda".  She will no longer die nameless.

A new pink bowl, treats, toys for a little dog who has never probably even had a pat for the years past. Even if she stays amongst us for a short time, she will have her own bowl and possessions - like every other loved companion.

And hugs.  Loving, kind, compassionate, heartfelt hugs.  For a little girl who would have not received many lately.

And walking without pain or fear.  What price do you put on that for a little dog found staggering in a paddock completely blind matted and pierced with sticks and grass seeds?

And feeling kind hands help her enjoy the moment?

And later had her wounds cleaned and treated by gentle hands and  voices soothing her.

We have three more sleeps before Matilda can come to us.  We know she will not be with us long.  But we will give until there is nothing more she needs.  And we have done that because of you.  Thankyou for following.....and caring, about Matilda.

The photo with the older lady speaks volumes about how good animals are for us. And vice versa of course. I hope Matilda continues to be pleasantly surprised by all this fuss, she certainly looks taken care of today!

To see such tender photos of Matilda and the ladies with so much love in their hearts for this little girl is very overwhelming for me and I know others. Knowing she will even receive more attention as from Saturday has put a smile on my face. Thank you in advance for all the care she will receive. If I already did not have my animal family I would be in there too. Waiting on the updates.XXXXXXXXXXX to Matilda

Sweet girl. You certainly look better than you did. Love and cuddles work wonders, as does a haircut. Looking forward to following your journey on the DD. Lots of love & XXXXXX coming your way Miss Matilda. You deserve it in truck loads. And so do the RWL ladies..... amazing!!
